Auburn School Board to Recognize Tim Pfab,
Fourth Grade Teacher at Dick Scobee Elementary
| On Monday, January 24, the Auburn School District board of directors will
recognize Tim Pfab, fourth grade teacher at Dick Scobee Elementary School, for
his excellence as an educator. Raised locally, Mr. Pfab graduated from Decatur
High School in the Federal Way School District. While studying at Central
Washington University, he decided to become a teacher because of his own love of
learning and of the school environment. “I also wanted to have a profession that
benefited society and teaching certainly supported that criteria,” said Mr. Pfab.
After graduating with an elementary education degree with a reading minor from
Central Washington University, he substitute taught for a year for the Sumner
and Highline School Districts.
Mr. Pfab was hired in 1997 to teach fifth grade at Dick Scobee Elementary School and has spent eight of his nine years of teaching there. In 2003-04, Mr. Pfab changed from fifth grade to fourth grade. “The students and staff here are wonderful at Dick Scobee. Having our school named after Commander Dick Scobee has really made a difference. We all have something to live up to; we take measuring up to his legacy seriously,” said Mr. Pfab. He feels that the students realize the high expectations that the five Scobee characteristics set and they are proud when they have earned school awards for achieving those characteristics. |

Mr. Pfab loves his profession, “There is nothing like seeing a student get IT, a concept.” Dick Scobee Elementary School principal, Greg Brown, says of Mr. Pfab, “Mr. Pfab is not only an amazing teacher, but an incredible human being. He is truly dedicated to his profession and to the success of his students. He takes pride in his job, his students, and our school. I appreciate greatly the fact that he won’t pass a piece of paper on the ground without picking it up and throwing it away. A simple act like that speaks loudly for the kind of person he is. We are privileged to have him as a member of our staff.”
