ARHS Teacher Presents on
State-level High School Panel

Geri Rohlff, Auburn Riverside High School language arts teacher and department chair, will be participating as a panel member at the High School Summit presented by the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) on Tuesday, January 17 at the Seattle Convention Center. Dr. Sue Shannon, OSPI senior researcher, organized the summit with the goal to improve high schools’ organizational structures and practices to respond to all students and to increase their learning.

The panel which Ms. Rohlff is participating on will highlight ideas from research for improving high schools. The panel, "Getting the High Schools We Need: Lessons from Research and Practice," will have different high school representatives sharing their successful strategies that are aligned with research such as school-wide improvement, transition and mentoring programs to support freshmen, credit recapture, intervention, and dropout prevention programs.

Ms. Rohlff is a master teacher who was selected as the Teacher-of-the-Year for the region of King County, Pierce County, and Bainbridge Island in 2004.
