Mt. Baker Middle School Teacher is
Published in Puppetry Book

Marianne Parr, drama teacher at Mt. Baker Middle School, has an essay featured in the recently published book entitled Puppetry in Education and Therapy: Unlocking doors to the Mind and Heart. This anthology features best practices in puppetry in the U. S. The editors of the book, Matthew Bernier and Judith O'Hare, are college professors and professional puppeteers. The book focuses on three uses of puppetry: education, therapy, and assessment. Articles were solicited from members of Puppeteers of America, a nonprofit organization for both professional and amateur puppeteers, an organization to which Ms. Parr belongs.

Ms. Parr and her sixth grade students have been building rod puppets since 1996. Ms. Parr writes her puppet plays which present issues relevant to the middle school student. The puppets and puppet plays provide positive memories for students and parents alike.
