Auburn High School to Host SkillsUSA Puget Sound Cabinetry Competition

On Saturday, January 27, the SkillsUSA Puget Sound Region Cabinetry Competition will be held at Auburn High School from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. All area students interested in competing in cabinetry can sign up for a nominal $15 fee, which covers lunch and some materials. The registration deadline is January 16.

Last year Auburn High School hosted the regional cabinetry competition and sent five students from the area to the state competition. Four of the five students were from Auburn High School.

Specialty Forest Products, based in Algona, will be donating all wood supplies for the competition. Mike Lindstrom, owner of Specialty Forest Products and member of the Construction/Manufacturing Advisory Board, is the lead judge in the competition. The other competition judges are also members of the Advisory Board.

SkillsUSA is a partnership of students, teachers and industry working together to ensure America has a skilled workforce. SkillsUSA offers regional, state and national competitions in all areas of Career and Technical Education (CTE).
