NEWS RELEASE
Auburn Rotary Selects Auburn Riverside Senior
as January Student of the Month
On January 17, Tara Low, a senior at Auburn Riverside High School, will be honored as Auburn Rotary’s January student of the month. She will attend the recognition luncheon with her school advisor, Meri Benedict, and her parents, Jim and Pam Low.
Tara Low is a 4.0 student with a competitive edge and a strong commitment to serve and lead others. Tara’s 4.0 GPA includes 5 AP classes. One of her favorite extracurricular activities is Speech and Debate, where she has competed in the National Tournament.
Tara also devotes much of her free time to helping others in the community. She focuses on families and children including tutoring other students, helping to support families in need during the holidays, organizing debate tournaments and gymnastic meets, and being a team leader at her church. Tara is sensitive to the needs of others around her, and even if it is an uncomfortable situation, she reaches out to those who are hurt or lonely to help them feel included and content. Tara was also voted “most inspirational” by both her volleyball and tennis teammates and coaches.
Leadership is also a strong suit for Tara. She is active in ASB and was voted senator for the senior class on Student Council. Her passion for Forensics has provided a perfect opportunity for leadership as well—for three years she has been in an officer position in the Forensics Club, this year being elected co-president of the group.
Tara has already been named a Regents Scholar. She plans to attend college next fall.
