Lakeland Hills Elementary School Music Teacher Sings
National Anthem at Governor Gregoire's State of the State Address

On January 15, Lakeland Hills Elementary School music teacher Sarah Samuelson traveled to Olympia after teaching morning classes to sing the National Anthem for Governor Christine Gregoire’s State of the State Address to the Joint Session.

Sarah is no stranger to singing at public events or being invited to perform on a big stage. Recently Sarah played the White Witch in Auburn Regional Theatre’s musical, Narnia. Last year she wrapped up a recording in Ireland as part of a professional chorus member in the Portland Opera Chorus. She was the soprano section leader for the filming of the international debut of the musical cantata, The Birth of Christ. The American and Irish chorus wonderfully blended for the recording, which took place inside a cathedral across the street from where Handel’s Messiah debuted. The narrator for the show on the DVD is Liam Neeson
