Four Auburn Students Receive National Scholarships

Four Auburn High School students have been awarded Robert C. Byrd Honors Scholarships: Joe Gehrett, Jenifer Pesika, Cory Schillaci, and Tyler Scott. State-wide, only 152 scholarships were given to outstanding students in each of Washington State’s nine congressional districts. The Auburn School District is in Congressional District 9.

The scholarship’s value is $1,500 per year for four years of study at college. This federally-funded scholarship is named for United States Senator Robert C. Byrd, a long-time senator from West Virginia. Byrd created the scholarship as a way to recognize and award exceptionally capable students who have demonstrated academic excellence in high school and show great promise of continued educational success in college and beyond.
