Auburn School District Awarded
"Meals for Kids" Grant

Auburn School District’s Child Nutrition Services Department was recently awarded a $5,162.69 “Meals for Kids” grant. The funding allows the department to expand its summer food service program.

Currently, the program provides free meals to children from late June to September at various community sites in Auburn, Algona and Pacific. The additional funding will pay for special serving equipment the Child Nutrition Services Department will use to serve the 40,000 plus off-site meals.

All children and youth ages 1 to 18 can stop by one of the 23 locations throughout the community. For a full listing of sites go to http://www.auburn.wednet.edu/childnutrition.

Nutritious lunches will be served, and some sites will also provide healthy breakfast items and snacks. The program is also available to youth-related groups such as sports teams, day cares and youth camps.
