NEWS RELEASE
Auburn Rotary Club Selects Auburn Riverside High School
Senior as Student of the Month

On June 14, Patricia Egwuatu, a senior at Auburn Riverside High School, was honored as the Auburn Rotary student of the month. She attended the recognition luncheon with Janalyn McKeehan, Dean of Students, and her mother, Florence Egwuatu.

Patricia excels in the classroom, tackling AP History, Calculus, Language and Literature courses. She also participates in Concert and Symphonic Band. She is a member of Key Club, the Honor Society, Student Council, and the National Honor Society and National Honor Roll.

To top off her academically and socially robust resume, she also is a fervent supporter of youth, volunteering in a myriad of services to better the lives of underprivileged children. Patricia states it is her compassion for others that drives her to sacrifice some of her loves to help others in need. She also values her patient spirit, claiming this helps her when volunteering with children.

Her volunteer service over the years includes: providing after-school tutoring to elementary school children; mentoring children at and publishing newsletters for the Tender Years Academy Center; coaching basketball techniques to young girls through Junior Ravens, an after-school program at Auburn Riverside.

Patricia plans to study Pre-Med at University of Washington next fall. Her goal is to graduate with a doctorate degree and then travel to Africa to give back to the countries, Nigeria and Uganda, which are a part of her heritage and culture. “I want to be able to give all children the proper health attention they deserve,” states Egwuatu.
