Auburn Mountainview High School Jazz and Show Choirs and
Wind and Jazz Ensembles Receive Superior Marks at Idaho Music Festival

On June 2, the Auburn Mountainview High School (AMHS) Jazz and Show Choirs and Wind and Jazz Ensembles competed at the Music in the Parks Festival in Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho. The students performed exceptionally. The Wind Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble, both Show Choirs, and Jazz Choir each picked up Excellence and Superior ratings for their performances at the festival.

The following trophies were awarded:

Karen Frerichs, Director

• Jazz Choir: 1st Place
• Show Choir: 1st Place
• Dance Choir: 2nd Place

Derek Pyle, Director

• Jazz Ensemble: 1st Place
• Wind Ensemble: 1st Place

Special Recognition Awards

• Overall High School Choir Award: AMHS Jazz Choir
• Overall Jazz Ensemble Award: AMHS Jazz Ensemble
• Overall Vocalist: Libby Spangler
• Overall Student Accompanist: Madeline Slettedahl

According to Derek Pyle, AMHS Director of Bands, “This festival was a huge success for our AMHS performance groups, Mrs. Frerichs and me. We are excited that our kids came well prepared, with fantastic attitudes and the desire to perform at the high standards required to acquire these awards."
