Auburn Riverside High School Student Captures
Top Honors at National French Contest

Jeremy Thomas, a junior at Auburn Riverside High School, recently competed in Le Grand Concours, an annual French competition sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of French (AATF).

Jeremy and other French students in grades 1-12, in all 50 states and abroad, competed against each other for prizes and local and national rankings. Jeremy and other competitors were required to take a written test, where scores were ranked against students with similar educational backgrounds for prizes.

Jeremy has been ranked fourth in his local chapter (Washington, Alaska and British Columbia) and seventh nationally.

Kaisa Swenddal-White, Jeremy’s French instructor at Auburn Riverside High School, says, “The competition gives both myself and my students a sense of how they compare to other French students in the state and nationally.”
