Auburn Mountainview High School
Sophomore Wins
United States Achievement Academy Honors
Inna Gavrilovich, a sophomore at Auburn Mountainview High School (AMHS), was named an All-American Scholar Award Winner by the United States Achievement Academy (USAA). USAA selects All-American Scholars based on the Standards of Selection set forth by the Academy. The criteria for selection are a student’s grade point average, student achievements, and a well-balanced schedule of academics and extracurricular achievements.
Inna is now eligible to receive 1 of 254 educational cash grants including:
Inna’s Spanish teacher, Mr. Hedger, initially nominated Inna for a National Academic Foreign Language Award for her excellence in Spanish. According to Inna, “The USAA scholarship opportunity was a surprise to me.”
Inna was born in Belarus, Russia, and moved to the United States five years ago. Fluent in Russian, Inna had to learn the English language quickly. Over the five years she has acquired the language and the culture with ease. “I think American,” she remarks. Currently Inna is a 3.8 honors student. She is pursuing a language arts honors class, as well as chemistry, trigonometry and AP European History.
Inna leads a worship group at her church, specializing in playing piano. She sings in the choir and is teaching herself violin. She also plays tennis for fun.
Next year Inna plans to enroll in Running Start at Green River Community College. She would like to transfer to the University of Washington or Northwest College to earn a four-year degree in political science. Her future career aspiration is to be an interpreter in Russian, Spanish, English, Ukrainian and Belarussian.
Inna loves to travel and plans to take two semesters during college to study in Spain, preferably at the University of Grenada.
