KINDERGARTEN ORIENTATION & REGISTRATION: Kindergarten Orientation will be Tuesday, May 6, in the gym from 3:30-4:30 pm, with registration following until 6:00 pm. Please have all registration forms completed in advance if possible, include the immunization form and bring your child's birth certificate (we will photocopy it in the office for our records). Kindergarten orientation is a great start on getting your child excited about attending school in the fall. They will get to meet their teachers, other classmates, and potential friends. Also on this day, they will take a ride on the school bus while parents learn about the kindergarten curriculum. If you have friends or neighbors who may have a child eligible for kindergarten this coming school year, please pass this information along. |
REQUIREMENTS FOR REGISTRATION: Youngsters must be five years old on or before August 31. During registration, please bring a copy of your child's birth certification, an updated immunization record and emergency names and numbers. Copies of birth certificates for children born in Washington State can be obtained from Vital Records Department, 500 Fourth Ave, Room 214, Seattle, WA 98104 at a cost of $17.00. IMMUNIZATION REQUIREMENTS: Immunizations must have the exact dates, including the day, month, and year of immunization. Washington law requires that each child entering kindergarten have a minimum of four diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis (DPT) shots and polio (OPV) shots. Three polios are acceptable if the last shot was given after the age of four. A measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) shot is required, after the age of one, and a second dose of MMR is required before entering kindergarten. Students entering kindergarten are required to have a three-shot series of hepatitis B vaccine (over a six month time period). The Varicella (chickenpox) shot is a requirement. Your student needs to have one dose after their first birthday or a parent documentaiton that your child had the disease. These immunizations must be completed before your child can enter school.
