What's Happening in the Library

KINDERGARTEN:
Leo the Library Mouse continues to help us find wonderful books for our read aloud time together. We are not only learning how to care for the library books we take home, but we enjoy reading with stuffed animal friends during quiet reading time. |

| FIRST GRADE:
These first graders are really growing in their reading skills. Now that they are allowed fiction and nonfiction checkouts, they are trying to use the 5-finger rule for selecting just right library books. We love to incorporate some of our read a loud books and our increasing technology skills. Kid Pix Deluxe is our favorite program for illustrating our read alouds. |

| SECOND GRADE:
Our second graders have been very busy not only learning more about how to use alphabetical order in the library, but we are having great fun learning more about authors through classroom games and authors online. |

| STUDENT LIBRARY TECHNOLOGY HELPERS:
(lovingly referred to as S.L.E.U.T.H.s) 30 fourth and fifth grade students have been amazingly generous donating free time to: shelve books, clean technology and school equipment, help students check books in and out, and just generally help to maintain their school library. They deserve a big round of applause. |

| THIRD GRADE:
Maps, maps, maps we're mapping out the library using Kid Pix Deluxe. |

| FOURTH GRADE:
Almanacs, Atlas & other reference materials is where we are at. |
||||||||
| FIFTH GRADE:
What's in a name? After a great read aloud we used interviewing skills to find out just how we received our first and middle names from our families. Next, it was time to do research in Name Books to find out the origin of our names. The best fun has been listening to the public speaking reports. It's amazing what you can learn about your classmates. |
