I would like to address a concern I have about why people do not join the PTA. I see a "look of fear" sometimes when members of PTA start talking about our great organization to other parents. I asked what their concerns were for joining the PTA and do you know what the number one answer was?? "I just don't have the time!" Guess what? You do not have to volunteer for anything when you join Lake View's PTA. Don't get me wrong ~ we love it when we have lots of volunteers for all the great programs that our PTA sponsors, but we also realize that everyone's life is different and some are more hectic than others. This year we are offering a “Guilt Free Membership” just pay your dues and that’s all you have to do. We won’t contact you to volunteer or anything. Joining the PTA helps promote the many programs that are run through PTA, such as Skating, Bingo, Special Assembles, Field Trips, Reading Enrichment, Accelerated Reading materials, Family Fun Nights, Carnival, After School Activities. The volunteers who run these great events get some of their training through the state and national levels of the PTA organization. So you see, just because your time might be limited, doesn't mean that you can't make a very worthwhile contribution by joining the PTA. Please take a few minutes to consider our PTA; we would love to have you!! PTA is for anyone and everyone who cares about children. You can even have your student’s Grandparent, Aunt or Uncle join and support our school. Your membership will give you a voice and a vote in the Lake View PTA, but it does not obligate you to volunteer or attend meetings. Please show your support for our children by joining today!!
