Now, more than ever, children need their parents and guardians to take an active role in supporting their education. So much to learn, and all the assessment tests that our children face throughout their school years, it is truly a parent's obligation to act as partners with their children's educators to ensure a strong foundation for success. Being a member of a PTA is just one way for us to begin to fulfill that obligation.

Since its inception in 1897, PTA has been an advocate for not only children's education, but their health and safety as well. Throughout the years, PTA has been instrumental in having physical education, kindergarten, including hot lunches in school programs, the creation of school loans and the removal of corporal punishment. PTA has also been a strong advocate for regulations for television violence, hazing, toxic substances in art supplies and school busing. These are just some of the examples of PTA missions and goals.

Even if you cannot actively participate in PTA functions at your child's school throughout the year, for $10 per single membership your dues can help ensure that programs that are meant to enhance your child's education can happen. A portion of your dues also helps support PTA programs and interests at the state and national level.

It is important for everyone who has children in school, elementary through high school, to get involved in your respective units. Membership, is not limited to parents and teachers only, relatives and community members are welcome as well. Let's all make the commitment to supporting our children's education and welfare through PTA.

A Special note to Lake Views PTA Board, members and all the volunteers! We want to thank you for your hard work making special events available for our children at Lake View Elementary. The PTA is a very important part of every school, planning and arranging for special events throughout the year. Fundraisers allow for various types of purchases and programs to aid our students in their learning development and fun which keeps a positive outlook at being involved with school activities.
