Auburn School Board Recognizes
Cascade Middle School Eighth Grader
On Monday, March 25, Bailey Stenson, Cascade Middle School eighth grader, was recognized by the board for her total involvement in positive activities and community service. Bailey has been involved in multiple activities at her school: softball, two years; basketball, three years; ASB, three years; Honor Society, three years; Honor Roll, three years; and baseball during this current season. Bailey is equally involved in activities outside of her school. She has played softball for four years; basketball with the Parks and Recreation for three years; and soccer for one and a half years. She has also participated in dance for nine years and Camp Fire for seven years. The amount of volunteer work that Bailey has performed is amazing, especially considering her age and her other activities. She has contributed volunteer time with the Rotary Club in Des Moines and with Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation. In the Candlelighters organization, Bailey, who is a cancer survivor, has met celebrities, raised money, worked at auctions, traveled to Washington D.C., and talked to Senators Patty Murray and Jennifer Dunn. She has helped with fund raisers for all her activities and worked in soup kitchens at a church to feed homeless people. Bailey is a member of King of Kings Lutheran Church in Renton. She is also a big Mariners fan.
Bailey loves school. She has attended Auburn schools since third grade. She has been involved with school plays since fourth grade and was involved in ASB at Lake View Elementary. In fifth grade, she was selected to be principal for a day.
Bailey's teachers comment that, "Bailey has been such a positive influence on her peers and has been a pleasure to have in class. She relates well with adults and kids. She is truly a wonderful student and person and her positive attitude is appreciated by everyone."
In the future, Bailey wants to be either a pediatrician, actress, teacher, or involved in sports medicine. She plans to attend Auburn High School and possibly attend Washington State or University of Washington after she graduates.
