Community Service Award Given to
Chinook Elementary School Student, McKenna Swanson
| At an all-school assembly held on Thursday, March 27,
Chinook Elementary School student, McKenna Swanson, received an award from
Jack Laverty, executive director of the Auburn Food Bank, for her
community service over the past three months. McKenna has helped her
grandparents, Dennis and Joanne Swanson, deliver food on Saturdays to
senior citizens who cannot make it to the food bank. McKenna's
grandmother, Joanne Swanson, serves on the Auburn Food Bank board of
directors.
Mr. Laverty addressed the student body and thanked them for their help in the recent food drives. In addition, the students were encouraged to serve the community by his observation that, "The youngest volunteer at the food bank is four years-old and the oldest is 94 years-old--everyone can help." |
