Doug Aubert Honored as
DECA Advisor-of-the-Year
Doug Aubert, Auburn Riverside High School marketing, economics, and Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA) teacher and advisor, was honored as the state "DECA Advisor-of-the-Year" at the recent state DECA tournament. He was awarded a plaque and a $1,000 check donated by a Washington State DECA business partner. Mr. Aubert’s goal has been “to develop the educational philosophy of marketing and to focus on students’ leadership growth, career development, and enjoyment of marketing education in the ARHS DECA program.”
Mr. Aubert has taught in Auburn School District since the fall of 2000. A graduate of Auburn High School, class of 1976, he attended Green River Community College and Central Washington University where he graduated with a degree in marketing education in 1982. His first teaching job was at Thomas Jefferson High School in Federal Way School District, where he was also the advisor in the DECA program and coached basketball and football. In 1988, he was hired as an assistant basketball coach at Weber State University in Odgen, Utah. He also taught marketing and coached freshmen basketball at Lake Stevens High School in Lake Stevens District. At Auburn Riverside High School, Mr. Aubert is a boys’ basketball coach and Key Club advisor. He also performs community service through the Valley Kiwanis of Auburn.
