Auburn School Board of Directors to Recognize
Cascade Middle School Student, Akinola 'Akin' Aliu
| On Monday, March 28, the Auburn School District Board of Directors will recognize Cascade Middle School eighth grade student, Akinola (Akin) Aliu, for being an exceptional student. Akin is his school’s ASB president. “Students like Akin don't come around very often. He is humorous, a leader, and possesses an inherent sense of respect for all people and living things. Not only is he an outstanding person, but he is a fine role model as a student,” says Orlyn Carney, language arts teacher. “In addition to Akin being involved in ASB and a variety of musical groups, he is an A student in our honors program here at Cascade. He does high quality, creative work that really is the sort of product we look for in honors. He is a fun student with a mature sense of humor. He has the respect of his peers, both in and out of the honors group. Akin truly is one of the best representatives of what we would hold up as a model Cascade student,” says Steve Homfeldt, social studies teacher. |

Diane Gardner, mathematics teacher, praises Akin for being an outstanding person, in and out of the classroom. He is well-mannered and considerate of other people. In ASB, he has provided outstanding leadership and follows through with plans. He organizes and works hard to make sure things are running smoothly. He is an excellent role model for the other middle school students. Akin is an active member in Cascade's band program and plays alto sax in concert band, pep band, and jazz band. He recently earned the highest score of "Superior" in his sax ensemble contest. He even plays the drums in his own rock band, "2:15," which he formed with three other 8th graders and Mr. Carney, his English Teacher. He is also involved in the school play and is currently auditioning for the lead role.
