NEWS RELEASE
Auburn High School Music Department
Earns GRAMMY for the Fourth Time

For the fourth time, the Auburn High School music department has been chosen as one of the finest music programs in the country by the nationally recognized GRAMMY Foundation. Just as the GRAMMY Award recognizes excellence in recording artists, the GRAMMY Signature High Schools Program honors public high school music programs that promote and preserve music education as a key part of their curriculum. Determined on the basis of a scoring system applied by a panel of top music educators and professionals, Auburn High School is one of 52 high schools from across the country to receive recognition based on their outstanding commitment to music education. The high school received this prestigious award in 2000, 2001, and 2003. The school’s music department will receive $2,000 as part of the recognition. Dale Johnson is the Auburn High School music department chair and band instructor; Kandy Gilbert is the choral teacher, and Dale Johnson is the orchestra teacher.

The GRAMMY Foundation, a non-profit arm of the Recording Academy, is dedicated to advancing music and arts-based education across the country and ensuring access to America’s rich cultural legacy.
