Sue Hoffman to Receive "Gold Star Award" from
Auburn School Board of Directors

On Monday, March 14, the Auburn School Board of Directors will recognize volunteer, Sue Hoffman, with the Gold Star Award, for providing unlimited support for band students. Ms. Hoffman is a passionate advocate of the Auburn High School band program. Although she no longer has any children in the band program, Ms. Hoffman continues to support the band in many ways, including single handedly coordinating the annual Veterans Day Parade and Field Show Competition, assisting with the annual Auburn Jazz Invitational, and supporting the band students in almost every festival they attend. All students in the instrumental music classes at Auburn High School benefit from Ms. Hoffman’s volunteer efforts. She offers boundless energy, enthusiasm, and organizational skills to the Auburn High School band program. Auburn High School band director, Brett Dupree, says, “Ms. Hoffman is cognizant of student needs and desires while helping to maintain the high standards and tradition of excellence of the Auburn band program. Having served for so long in the Auburn Band Parent Association, she has become someone to whom we continually turn to.” Paul Harvey, Auburn High School principal, says, “We are very grateful to Sue for her continued commitment to the Auburn band program. She is a remarkable person. If you ever come to our Veterans Day competition, you will be amazed. She is visible and just a great presence in our community.”
