NEWS RELEASE
Sport Stacking Tournament to be Held
Tuesday, May 10, 2005 at Auburn High School

The first sanctioned Sport Stacking (formerly known as Cup Stacking) tournament in Washington State is being held in Auburn School District on Tuesday, May 10, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Auburn High School gymnasium. All Auburn School District students are invited to participate and there will be grade-level winners. Sport Stacking  is an exciting individual and team sport where participants stack and unstack 12 specially designed plastic cups in pre-determined sequences. Individually, stackers race against the clock for fastest or best times. Stackers also compete on a relay team racing against another team in head-to-head competition. Some of the benefits of Sport Stacking have been researched and reported as increasing bilateral proficiency (equal performance on both sides of the body), promoting ambidexterity, developing a greater percentage of the right side of the brain which houses awareness, focus, creativity, and rhythm.
