NEWS RELEASE
Auburn High School to Host 2007 Northwest Regional
Washington State Sport Stacking Championship

On Saturday, March 17, the first annual WSSA (World Sport Stacking Association) Northwest Regional/Washington State Sport Stacking Championship will be held at the Auburn High School gym from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Students from Alaska, British Columbia, Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Montana have been invited to compete for WSSA trophies and medals. Admission is $3.00 for adults, $1.00 for seniors and kids (ages 6 to 17), and free for children 5 and under.

Sport stacking (formerly called cup stacking) is an individual and team sport where stackers stack and unstack 12 specially designed cups (Speed Stacks) in predetermined sequences with lightning quickness. The sport is described as a “track meet for your hands at warp speed.”

The unique sport promotes hand-eye coordination, ambidexterity, focus, concentration, team skills and sportsmanship. Sport stacking competitions take place locally, nationally and internationally throughout the year, attracting more than one million kids worldwide. Stackers range in age from 6 to 17 and individually compete against the clock for record times or on relay teams in head-to-head competition. A division for stackers with special needs is also included.

For more information, contact John Ansotigue, tournament director, at (253) 931-4974, or explore www.worldsportstackingassociation.org and www.speedstacks.com.
