Auburn Rotary Selects West Auburn High School Senior
as March Student of the Month
On March 21, Alisa Bradley, a senior at West Auburn High School, was honored as Auburn Rotary’s student of the month for March. She attended the recognition luncheon with her school advisor, Linda Myers, and her parents, Gary and Alana Bradley.
Alisa is an active student at West Auburn High School. She is a member of the Voc Ed Club, volunteering countless hours to such civic and community organizations as the YMCA, Auburn Parks and Recreation, Auburn Symphony, Junior Achievement and the Auburn Lions Club. Currently Alisa is volunteering between 5-15 hours each week at the Pierce County Humane Society, helping animals find new homes and caring for the animals. Alisa finds working with animals very rewarding, especially when she places them in good homes. Alisa’s other favorite volunteer activity is face painting at local community events. “Kids come up with the wildest ideas about what they want painted on their face,” Alisa exclaims, “so you get to be very creative.”
Alisa is attending night school to earn her high school diploma and also participates in the Running Start program at Green River Community College to get a jump-start on her college major, Veterinary Science and Medicine. She plans on becoming a Veterinary Technician. Alisa is a single mom, so she is able to care for her son during the day.
Alisa is still determining which college to transfer to and attend in the fall. She hopes to earn her four-year degree from Washington State University. Eventually she would like to work with animals in a non-profit setting like the Humane Society.
When Alisa has a night off, she enjoys attending the Auburn Symphony Orchestra. When she doesn’t have the night off, she loves to watch Animal Planet with her son. Alisa plays the flute and piccolo. She also hopes to get back into dancing again, an activity in which she has participated since age three.
