Gang Awareness and Graffiti Prevention
On Thursday, March 20, in an effort to engage parents, teens and community members in a discussion about juvenile issues, the City of Auburn and Auburn School District are teaming up to host “SPEAK UP and GET INVOLVED: A Community Forum on Juvenile Issues.” This free forum is scheduled from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Auburn Senior High School, located at 700 East Main Street (enter at the Performing Arts Center). A free dinner will be provided courtesy of the Auburn Youth Council from 5:30-6 p.m.
The keynote speakers Dora Trevino and Christina Pelayo of “Stop the Violence”
Program and Auburn Police Officer Jason Blake will discuss juvenile issues including gang and youth violence, and criminal justice and closure.
“Auburn has a history of successfully handling the needs of children and youth in the community. The well-established and supportive partnerships between the School District, the City and various community organizations make it possible to proactively address these needs, creating a safer environment for young people and providing quality resources,” states Linda Cowan, superintendent of Auburn Schools.
