NEWS RELEASE
Auburn School District's Board of Directors Honors
Fifth Grader Noah Freelund

The Auburn School District Board of Directors recognized Noah Freelund, a fifth grader at Gildo Rey Elementary School, for being an outstanding student on Monday, March 24, at 7 p.m. in the board room at the James P. Fugate Administration Building.

Mrs. Linville, Noah’s teacher, describes Noah as, “a well-rounded, flexible individual who leads with kindness and confidence. Noah is an ambitious self-starter who can be counted on to work independently and meet the high expectations of fifth grade Challenge Group. He is one of those rare individuals who knows how to lead and how to follow. He is very approachable and I have never seen him have a negative interaction with his peers. He is someone I can count on to be doing the right thing at the right time. Anyone that has ever met Noah asks if he ever stops smiling!” This is Noah’s second year in Challenge Group, which means Noah receives enrichment opportunities beyond the day-to-day curriculum. Mrs. Linville says, “Noah is always up for trying the next thing.”

Noah is not only dedicated in the classroom, but in the school community as well. He is the ASB co-president and the captain of the safety patrol for the past two years. Noah also plays fifth grade basketball for the Gildo Rey Hawks.

Outside of school, Noah loves to play baseball and was on the Auburn Little League 10-year-old All-Star team last year. Noah currently plays on two teams—one is the Cardinals, an Auburn Little League Majors team, and the other is a tournament team called The Tides. In his spare time, Noah enjoys camping, fishing, riding motorcycles and quads, and playing with his dogs.

Noah has future plans of being an Auburn Police Explorer when he turns 13, which is a program designed for young people who have an interest in a law enforcement career. Noah wants to continue to play baseball in college, preferably for University of Southern California, University of Texas or University of Arizona, and hopefully in the major league some day.
