Auburn High School Student Wins Scholarship
from Music Magazine
Auburn High School junior, Chris Siegmund, was recently awarded a $1,000 scholarship from School Band and Orchestra Magazine for an essay titled “How Music Has Influenced My Life.” His high school will receive a matching $1,000 in music products for its music program. Siegmund and his essay will be featured in the June edition of the magazine. The magazine may be accessed at www.sbomagazine.com.
Three years ago, while he was in eighth grade at Cascade Middle School, Siegmund won First Place in the Washington State Law Enforcement Association’s 1999 Annual Essay Contest and received a $200 award. At that time, he was also was selected as a United States Achievement Academy National Award Winner in history and government which is a prestigious honor bestowed upon fewer than ten percent of all American secondary students. The Academy selects winners based upon the exclusive recommendation of teachers, coaches, counselors, and other qualified sponsors and also upon the Standards of Selection defined by the Academy.
