U.S.
Secretary of Education Rod Paige has announced that Donna Foxley will serve as
the Secretary's Regional Representative for Region X. With headquarters in
Seattle, Region X covers Alaska, Idaho, Oregon and Washington. The Department of
Education maintains 10 regional offices throughout the country to represent
department programs and interests.
Foxley, a native of Auburn, has been a member of the Auburn School Board for more than six years. Active in WSSDA, she has served on the association’s Resolutions Committee and the Diversity-Multicultural Advocacy Team. She has also been involved in the Federal Relations Network (FRN), serving as both a Congressional District Coordinating Member and as an advocate during FRN meetings in Washington, D.C. In addition, she is completing her second term as president of King County School Directors for the Puget Sound Educational Service District.
As the Secretary's Regional Representative, Foxley will serve as the department's liaison to state and local education agencies, public and private schools, colleges and universities and elected representatives of local and state government organizations. In addition, she will assist with communicating information about department programs and initiatives to key constituency groups, including parents, members of the business community and civic leaders.
"I am pleased to welcome Donna to our team as we work to implement the No Child Left Behind Act and bring true education reform to our schools, districts and states," Paige said. "Working together with parents, educators, business and community leaders in the northwest states, we can make sure that every child receives a quality education and no child is left behind."
