Auburn School Board of Directors to
Recognize Hazelwood Elementary Fifth Grade Student
On Tuesday, May 28, the Auburn School Board of Directors will honor Hazelwood Elementary School fifth grader, Justis Tena, for his pursuit in doing his best. Justis’ classroom teacher, Marcie Trudeau says, “I can't say enough about Justis! He is an honor student in every sense of the word. He always does his best, has a broad range of interests, constantly challenges himself, enthusiastically participates in all activities and subjects, and is very organized with both his time and his materials. Justis is very creative and looks for ways he can express this. He routinely seeks out more in-depth information on subject matter covered in class. Justis is also one a most well-mannered young man. He is always willing to help others and works well with everyone. He is a natural leader. He leads by the example he sets and also by the roles and responsibilities he assumes. Justis participates in all of the school’s extra-curricular activities: basketball, volleyball, student jobs, talent show, student leadership, and band. He is also very civic minded and volunteers a lot of his time.” Michaelle Lammers, fourth grade teacher, had Justis last year in her fourth/fifth grade combination class. She found Justis to be a tremendously skilled student and a wonderful human being who was respected by all. “Justis is a combination of all of the good characteristics that anyone would like for their own sons to have. He treats others with the respect and care that usually comes with many more years of experience. He is proud and confident and, yet, he is able to admit his errors and ask questions. He has that love of learning that will lead him on into a very happy, productive life,” says Ms. Lammers.
