NEWS RELEASE
Auburn School Board to Recognize
Jessica Bigger, Fifth Grade Student from Pioneer Elementary

On Monday, May 27, the Auburn School Board of Directors will recognize Pioneer Elementary School student, Jessica Bigger, for her many talents, her attitude towards school, and her treatment of other students.  “Jessica is a well-rounded fifth grader who strives for the best in all that she does,” says her teacher, Mary Luschei.  Jessica is a self-starter who does her best on every assignment, treats all children with fairness and does not pass judgment or ill will towards others.  “During this school year, I have been able to count on her for any purpose, whether it be escorting students that cannot be responsible on their own to other places, to being that one student that sticks up for those that cannot defend themselves.  She has a soft-spoken way, but is very direct and to the point. I would trust her in any situation,” says Ms. Luschei.  Jessica has the best slogan on her online mailbox, which always ends with the following, “Too cool not to be in school.” She shows this attitude everyday with her near perfect attendance, honor roll status, and personality.  During the school year, each student was given the opportunity to write and illustrate his or her own book.  Jessica wrote a book of poetry and the words seemed to come to her easily; she invites the reader in by providing beautiful metaphors, similes, dedications, and real meaning.  Jessica worked on this publication day and night, never asking or needing help - just steady diligence and purpose.  This commitment to a meaningful school project is symbolic of Jessica’s commitment to her education-in-general.  To quote her teacher, Ms. Luschei, “Jessica is going to make a real mark for herself in this world.”
