On Friday, May 9, Susan Carollo, Auburn community volunteer was honored at the Washington Association of School Administrators (WASA) luncheon. Ms. Carollo was nominated for this honor by Auburn School District Superintendent Linda Cowan for being a very active school community volunteer who has fulfilled leadership roles in many different educational areas. Ms. Carollo has been the treasurer of Pioneer Elementary School’s PTA, the treasurer of the Auburn Council of PTAs, and stepped in to run Auburn PTA Council meetings when no president came forward. She has worked on many committees such as fundraising events while at Pioneer Elementary. She has helped out with Council events such as Golden Acorn for several years. She has been involved with PTA since her oldest son, who is now in high school, started elementary school. She regularly participates in Parent Connect meetings and events. She has served on the "Uniquely Auburn" committee and the district’s "Reaching Out Fair" committee. She is board president for the Communities in Schools organization in Auburn. Indicative of her service to public education, Susan was the recipient of the Auburn PTA Council’s "Golden Acorn Award" in 2000.
