Two Rainier Middle Schools Students
Honored at
Johns Hopkins University Center for Talented Youth
On Sunday, May 8, two Rainier Middle School students, Justis Tena and Angeleah Tena, were honored at a Johns Hopkins University Center for Talented Youth (CTY) award ceremony for distinguishing themselves amongst the brightest academically gifted youth in the country. The ceremony was held at the University of Puget Sound. The students participated in the academic Talent Search organized by CTY which is in its third decade of identifying America’s top students in grades two through eight, and providing programs, services, and resources to help them make the most of their enhanced academic abilities. Young people who score at the 97th percentile or higher on school standardized tests such as the Iowa Test of Basic Skills (ITBS) are invited by CTY to participate in a rigorous set of above-grade level exams such as the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT).
