Auburn High School Band Wins Big
at State Solo and Ensemble Contest
Auburn High School Band members captured top honors at the WIAA-WMEA STATE Solo and Ensemble Contest at Central Washington University on April 28-29.
Seniors Caroline Bonner and Adam Range won first place in Small Percussion Ensemble, performing a Marimba Duet by Keiko Abe, “Wind Across Mountains.” The nine-member Large Percussion Ensemble placed third and performed Steve Riley’s “Eye Irascible.” Members include: Adam Range, Caroline Bonner, Willis Barton, Heidi Brandner, Jonathan Angle, Susan Kramer, Andy Patton, Anneliese Kellogg and Caleb Valdovinos.
Third place Mixed Vocal-Small Duet winners were senior Emily Yarnold and sophomore Thaddeus Wilson.
State Soloist winners included: Emily Yarnold, third place in Mezzo Soprano; Caroline Bonner, third place in Timpani Solo; Josh Linders, first place in Alto-Bass Clarinet Solo; Adam Range, first place in Marimba Solo; and Daniel Siegmund, first place in Trumpet Solo.
The STATE Contest features over 1,800 students who qualified at the Regional Contest held in February.
