Auburn Mountainview Junior Captures
Bronze Medal in Marimba Solo

Aaron Dunham, a junior at Auburn Mountainview High School, won third place for his Marimba Solo at the WIAA-WMEA STATE Solo and Ensemble Contest at Central Washington University on April 28-29.

Aaron played the Marimba, a large version of the Xylophone with a darker and lower set of tones. His musical selection was “Two Mexican Dances, for Marimba,” composed by Gordon Stout.

This is Aaron’s second appearance at STATE but first top-three performance. He now has the distinct honor of being Auburn Mountainview’s first band member to win a state award for excellence in an instrumental music performance.

The STATE Contest features over 1,800 students who qualified at the Regional Contest held in February.
