Auburn Rotary Selects Auburn
Mountainview High School
Senior as May Student of the Month
On May 16, Michael Ho, a University of Washington-bound senior at Auburn Mountainview High School, was honored as Auburn Rotary’s student of the month for May. He attended the recognition luncheon with his school advisor, Donna Harris.
Michael is a dedicated student, maintaining a 3.8 GPA at Auburn Mountainview. He never strays far from his computer class. Michael enjoys anything that relates to computers and technology. He would like to pursue a computer science degree at University of Washington, perhaps focusing his studies on software development.
Michael recently had an internship in Auburn School District’s central Information Technology Department. “I went to schools to help set up computers; I also learned how to ghost machines and do reinstalls,” says Michael. Recently in Mr. Fawcett’s computer class, Michael and his classmates rebuilt a computer Mr. Fawcett had disassembled.
Michael is also a member of the school’s Internet Club, Key Club, DECA and the Diversity Club. Internet Club is his favorite, of course. This year the Internet Club not only surfed the Web, they also fed the homeless at a local Auburn soup kitchen, participated in a coat drive and sang Christmas carols at a local retirement home.
In his free time, Michael enjoys a recreational game of tennis, basketball or baseball, or maybe a video game. He also tutors a seventh grader every day after school. “I help with a lot of algebra and English problems,” remarks Michael.
