Hints for determining what bibliographic information to write down about your source of information

Write down the bibliographic information, before you start reading and taking notes. It doesn't have to be in proper form, but you need the information. Click below for the different types of publications to see what information you should collect.

Bibliographies should be double spaced. If a citation is longer than one line, the second (and succeeding) lines should be indented. (* means required).

Books Magazines Internet

 

 

Books:

*Author(s)
*Title
*Place of Publication* [can be on front or back of title page, at the bottom]
*Publisher [look at the bottom of the titlepage]
*Date of publication, copyright date [either at bottom of title page or on the back]
*Pages used for the report.
The call number of the book (not required in the bibliography, but could be useful
Date you read the information. (not used in the bibliography, but could be useful).

Magazines and Periodicals:

*Author (if there is one)
*Title of article
*Name of Magazine
*Date of Magazine
*Page numbers used

Internet:

*URL, the address of the site viewed
*Date you viewed the site,
