    Welcome to the World Flag Database, maintained by Graham Bartram . The flag drawings in this database have been used in a number of CD-ROM titles, including 3D Atlas, created by the MultiMedia Corporation and published by Creative Wonders. The originals were supplied by the Flag Institute as EPS files

 

Maps

  • Altapedia Online
    Contains full color physical and political maps as well as key facts and statistics on countries of the world.
  • Color Landform Atlas of the United States
    For each state there are maps showing the satellite image, 1985 state maps showing railroads, black and white maps, county maps, and shaded relief maps created from arrays of elevation data.
  • Enchanted Learning
    Contains outline/black line maps on geography, science and other subjects.
  • How Far Is It? (to US Cities and Towns)
    This service uses data from the US Census and a supplementary list of cities around the world to find the latitude and longitude of two places, and then calculates the distance between them (as the crow flies). It also provides a map showing the two places, using the Xerox PARC Map Server.

  • Mapmaker! Mapmaker, Make me a Map
    Explains different maps, their uses, map projections, and the role of atlases and Latitude and Longitude in map making.
  • Maps and References.
    The maps which are listed here have been selected because they are thought to be reasonably useful and/or interesting. They are categorized by geographical region although there are a couple of thematic categories such as Interactive Maps which both highlights the potential of the WWW and are also fun to use. Note that there is some overlap in geographic coverage between these categories.

  • Online Outline Maps.
    This site offers a selection of outline maps for use in the classroom or at home. Feel free to print or download any of these maps for your personal us in activities, reports, or stories.
  • Perry-Castaneda Library Map Collection at the University of Texas at Austin
    Online maps arranged by continent, come in two formats, jpg and pdf. The site includes historical maps, city maps, and includes a section of outline maps with links to other map web sites. Users will need a free plug-in, Adobe Acrobat reader and possibly a graphics program to resize large maps to fit on one page.
  • State Outline Maps
    Blank outline maps of each of the 50 states.
  • Xpeditions Atlas
    This online atlas allows you to select the country and type of map you want to view. There are four types of maps you can see: basic, detailed, borders, or no borders. They come in two formats: GIF and PDF, and most will print on one page.
  • World Factbook Country Maps
    Each country profile on this site contains an excellent public-domain map. Maps are updated each year. Every map is in JPG format so you don't need any plug-ins to view them and is small enough to print on one page.
