Pioneer Elementary Recognized by
Governor Gary Locke for State Champion in President's Council
on Physical Fitness and Sports

Pioneer Elementary School was recently recognized by Governor Gary Locke for being a state champion in the President’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports.  Only three schools in Washington State were accorded this special distinction.

To qualify for this honor, a high percentage of students were required to score at the 85^th percentile or above in a series of exercises designed to test their strength, endurance, flexibility, and agility.  Governor Locke observed that, “Their success in doing so speaks volumes about the ability of Pioneer Elementary school to helps its boys and girls succeed in all areas of life, and its emphasis on promoting healthy lifestyle choices.”

Pioneer Elementary School’s physical education teacher is Michael McKinley.
