Pam Smith Selected and Honored as
Auburn Chamber of Commerce Citizen-of-the-Month for November
Pam Smith, coordinator of Auburn Performing Arts Center (PAC) and Auburn Riverside Theatre (ART), was selected as the Auburn Chamber of Commerce Citizen-of-the-Month for November at the Monday, November 17, Chamber luncheon. Mrs. Smith was honored for being an active contributor to local cultural arts events as well as a highly effective Auburn School District employee.
For well over twenty-some years, Mrs. Smith has contributed extensive work in coordinating meaningful cultural arts events and programs for children, youth, and adults. She also has 15 years of experience in theatre arts, music direction, and production. In 1993, Mrs. Smith began serving on the Auburn Arts Commission, performing such onerous tasks as coordinating up to 100 volunteers for the 9 to 14 performances of the Auburn Arts Commission’s BRAVO! Series at the PAC. She has served on the arts commission’s Grant Committee as well as other city committees such as Millennium Committee. In 1993-94, Mrs. Smith was the co-director and producer for the first-ever Auburn Good Ol’ Days “Vaudeville Follies” and “Main Street Follies” at the PAC.
Before becoming an employee of Auburn School District, Mrs. Smith worked as a part-time administrative office assistant in a local dentist office for five years and taught piano and music lessons from 1980 to 1998. In 1989-1990, Mrs. Smith was the music director for Puget Sound Musical Theatre (PSMT) and Federal Way School District’s Children’s Summer Theatre Workshops.
Mrs. Smith is conscientious and hard-working. She really puts her heart into her work all of her activities. She has exceptional interpersonal skills. Mrs. Smith graciously gives of her time and talent to positively impact the lives of young people in our community. She has a wealth of experience and background in the arts. Her dedication and caring are among the attributes that serve her well.
Mrs. Smith is an excellent person who demonstrates a high level of sensitivity to community activities. She is very personable, possessing effective communication skills. She is a very worthy recipient as Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Month for November, 2003.”
