Stephanie Hedrick Recognized by
Auburn School Board of Directors
At the Monday, November 24 Auburn School Board meeting, Stephanie Hedrick, para-educator at Gildo Elementary School, was recognized by the directors for being a model public school employee. Before her career in public education, Mrs. Hedrick had worked in the private sector for several years. In 1991, Mrs. Hedrick began working for Auburn School District as a substitute educational aide in the kindergarten Chapter 1 program at Dick Scobee Elementary and in the reading program at Alpac Elementary. In 1992, she became a member of the Gildo Rey Elementary staff as a reading para-educator. Mrs. Hedrick works in the Title Room at Gildo Rey teaching reading and mathematics. She organizes the material for the small group math instruction under the direction of the teacher. “Mrs. Hedrick is bright, efficient, self-starting, creative, energetic, hard-working, accurate, dedicated and has a winning sense of humor. She is often seen coming early and staying late and when encouraged to 'go home,' she quietly retreats to her working space to put the finishing touches on one more thing,” said Robin Logan, Gildo Rey Elementary School principals. Mrs. Hedrick is valued by the staff and students alike. She has a warm and caring manner with the students she works with that is complimented with a wonderful understanding of how to provide quality instruction in reading and mathematics. She has an inquisitive mind and has sought out numerous workshop opportunities to continually enhance her skills. Mrs. Hedrick is a resource to her fellow para-educators and a tremendous asset to Gildo Rey Elementary School.
