NEWS RELEASE
AHS Blood Drive Helps Save Lives

On Wednesday, November 2, Auburn High School students will once again try to accomplish a goal to host a blood drive that will save hundreds of lives. Last year the school set a Puget Sound Blood Center mobile blood drive record with the largest number of donations ever made in one day by a single organization. Enough blood was donated -- 476 units -- to potentially save the lives of 1,400 individuals. The school registered 915 donations over the entire year.

This year's drive will be held in the school's gym, known at "The Pit," on Wednesday, November 2, 2005 from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The school expects another large group of students to participate; more than 300 students have signed up to donate so far.

High schools in Western Washington provide approximately 16 percent of the community blood supply and help the Blood Center maintain one of the nation's most stable blood supplies.
