Ilalko Elementary School Awarded 2006 Starbucks
and University of Washington Grant

Ilalko Elementary School has been selected as a winner in the 2006 Starbucks and UW Partners in the Community Elementary School Playground and Physical Fitness Awards Program. The school will be awarded a $1,000 cash prize at the upcoming Washington versus Stanford football game on Saturday, November 11, 2006.

Dee Dee Goodspeed, PE instructor at Ilalko, applied for the grant in September 2006 and plans to use the money to benefit her after-school Fantastic Fitness Club. The club discusses the benefits of eating right, followed by a high energy exercise session. “I hope to find even more funding sources that will support my efforts of teaching kids the benefits of healthy eating and exercise,” states Ms. Goodspeed.
