Auburn School District High School Students
Earn 2,438 College Credits
During the 2005-06 school year, high school students from Auburn, Auburn Mountainview, Auburn Riverside and West Auburn High Schools earned 2,438 college credits through Tech Prep—a program designed to enable high school students to begin a vocational/technical program that leads to a two-year degree or certificate program.
Auburn School District boasts the second highest number of credits earned in the South King County Tech Prep Consortium (SKCTPC).
Many of Auburn School District’s Career and Technical Education (CTE) courses are Tech Prep articulated with post-secondary institutions such as Green River Community College, Highline Community College and Renton Community College. Upon successful completion of these courses, students earn college credit.
Over half—52%—of the CTE courses at Auburn High are Tech Prep articulated. Auburn Mountainview has 40% of its courses Tech Prep articulated, while Auburn Riverside has 41% and West Auburn has 25%.
Many students participate in Tech Prep because it allows them to earn their high school diploma while simultaneously preparing for a vocational/technical career and earning college credit.
