Pioneer Elementary School Teacher
Awarded Grant for Parent Program

Michelle Hupperten, TOSA instructor at Pioneer Elementary School, was awarded a $1,500 grant from the Muckleshoot Charity Fund.

The money will fund a new parent-training program for Pioneer students’ families called “Becoming a Love and Logic Parent.” Parents will improve their parenting skills by learning practical techniques that will help them raise ready and willing learners. “I hope that this program leads to more happy families, because happy families make for happy students who are ready to learn at school,” says Ms. Hupperten.

The parent program will begin in January 2007. The classes will be located at Pioneer Elementary School and meet once a week for six weeks. Dinner will be provided for participating families, and daycare will be made available for all school-age children.
