NEWS RELEASE
Civility Week - "Making the World a Better Place"

Auburn School District students are implementing a “Civility Week” from Monday through Friday, December 2-6.  The students have planned individual school activities that promote themes such as courtesy, respect, community service, honoring civil servants and military personnel, and civic responsibility.

Each day of the week, specific themes will be promoted by specific activities both in the school and the community.  Some school activities include food and clothing drives; picking up litter; grounds work at non-profit agencies, and thanking local police, firefighters, veterans, medics, and other emergency personnel for all they do.  The mayor of Auburn, Pete Lewis, will make an official proclamation establishing December 2-6 as Civility Week.  Community-wide activities will be promoted which will parallel the school-based activities.  This special week will be a continuation of the fourth annual “Reaching Out Fair,” the youth safety event that was held Thursday, October 17.
