AHS Sophomore Earned Top Score at
State FCCLA Competition Last Spring

Brittany Miller, Auburn High School sophomore, earned the top score at the state Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) competition held last spring and represented Washington State at the national meeting in Chicago, Illinois this past summer. Over 5,000 youth and adults attended nationals. Brittany earned a silver medal in the Career Investigation event. In this event, students performed in-depth research on their career interests discovering important information that is necessary to a work in that field, starting with classes in high school and college.  Students had to present the ways family and consumer classes had helped them travel their career pathways by incorporating essential academic learning requirements into many curriculum areas in their courses. Brittany put together an outstanding portfolio and clearly presented her project. She learned a lot about herself in this project and hopes to compete again next year.
