Five Auburn Schools Walk for Heart
Five Auburn schools participated in the American Heart Association’s 2005 Heart Walk that was held on Saturday, September 25 at Qwest Field (Seahawks Stadium) in Seattle. By having a certain amount of participants and pledges for the Heart Walk, the qualifying schools earned an automatic external defibrillator (AED) and training for school staff. Dick Scobee, Lea Hill, and Lake View elementary schools successfully earned an AED as well as supporting the worthwhile Heart Walk by either having the required 100 walkers or fundraising the required $2,500 in pledges. Olympic Middle School is still waiting to learn if their numbers were sufficient to earn an AED. The school earned one in the 2004 Heart Walk as did Dick Scobee Elementary. Cascade Middle School did not achieve its goal, but staff and parents are participating in the Heart of Auburn Schools fundraising event to be held on Saturday, October 15 in the Truitt Building.
