NEWS RELEASE
Auburn Mountainview Senior Clarinetist
Margene Norris Wins Top Regional Honor

Margene Norris, a senior at Auburn Mountainview High School and a superb clarinetist, is the school’s first successful candidate to perform, and as a result of her audition, be awarded a chair in the Thunderbird Honor Band—the Western International Band Clinic’s (WIBC) most highly skilled honor band.

Over 500 students audition for the opportunity to perform in one of the four WIBC bands. The Thunderbird Honor Band is the most competitive and sought-after band, and only about 40 auditions are accepted. Margene’s accomplishment is truly a reflection of the high standards she sets for herself and her musical skill.

Each year the WIBC holds auditions for students to be awarded a chair in one of the four honor bands. Top high school performers are selected from the states of Washington, Idaho and Oregon. The annual WIBC convention will take place the weekend before Thanksgiving on November 17-20 in Seattle, Washington.

For more information contact Derek Pyle, Auburn Mountainview High School Director of Bands, at (253) 804-4539, ext. 6050.
