Venn diagram

If you want to compare ideas to see what they have in common, the Venn diagram is excellent.

1. Start by drawing two large circles on a page. Put one on the left and one on the right. Make sure they overlap so there is space in the center where you can write.

2. Write one fact in the left circle

For instance: "The first creature in space was a dog sent up by the Russians in 1957."

3. Put a second fact in the right circle

Such as: "The United States sent a chimpanzee into outer space in 1961.

4. What do the two facts have in common? Write this in the center area.

Example: "Scientists first tested an animal before sending a person into space.

You can combine this method with other methods when taking notes.
